Bliss Balls for Glowing Skin

While there are hundreds of different bliss ball combinations, this is one of my favourites. Whether you're working from home, just stuck at home or you're actually still going about your normal day - these are a great healthy snack to always have on hand. Bliss balls are now often available in supermarkets, but generally they have extra additives; like preservatives, flavourings or even colour. If you make them yourself, you know exactly whats going in to your body (and they are so quick and easy to make !)


1 cup fresh medjool dates (seedless or remove seeds)

2 tbsp cacao butter

3 tbsp coconut oil 

3 tsp vanilla essense

1 cup walnuts

1/2 cup almonds

1/4 cup pumkin seeds

1/4 cup sunflower seeds

1/4 cup raw cacao powder


Kitchen tools:

Food processor or blender.

1. Soak the dates in boiling water for around ten minutes to soften. 

2. Melt together the cacao butter and coconut oil (over the stove or microwave)

3. Add all dry ingredients to the food processor, then the wet and blitz until everything is combined. It's up to you how fine you want your ingredients to be - I like mine to be a little crunchy and more textured but if you prefer no crunch just keep blending

4. Roll mixture into balls, and pop straight into container for storage. Refrigerate for 20 minutes before eating, and keep stored in the fridge. These will last over a week in the fridge but you will most likely have eaten them all before then !

contains antioxidants and anti inflammatory components, that are crucial for maintaining skin health. Studies have investigated cacao for it's use in skin diseases such as psoriasis, acne and wound healing, not only for treatment but also prevention of such diseases. Cacao also contains antioxidants that help protect the skin from the inside, and neutralise oxidative stress - which is a large factor when it comes to skin ageing. (Scapagnini et al., 2014)

Pumkin Seeds:

Are also a natural source of antioxidants, as well as a high amount of vitamin C within the oil. Vitamin C is an integral nutrient for healthy skin, as it supports collagen production, fights free radical and improves general immunity. Pumpkin seed oil is also abundant in minerals such as magnesium, potassium and zinc - also needed for healthy skin ! These help to prevent wrinkles and help to keep the skin hydrated. Sunflower Seeds:

Also have antioxidant effects, along with being antimicrobial, anti inflammatory, wound healing and even anti-hypertensive and anti-diabetic actions. (Guo, Ge & Na Jom, 2017)


Contain vitamin E which has high antioxidant activity and again plays a role in fighting oxidation of fats. B6 which may support the immune system and nerve health. Phytosterols which are recognised as 'cholesterol lowering' components. (Fatima, Showkat & Hussain, 2018)
